Wayne “Tez” Richard Altonen, 82, of Ironton, died on Nov. 19, 2021 at the Covenant Living and Rehabilitation in Golden Valley.   A Dec. 11 service is being planned.  

Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.

HAROLD CARL CHAMBERLIN, 76, of Aitkin, died unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 15, 2021 at his home.  He was born May 30, 1945 in Brainerd to Harold Cecil and Florence Agnes (O’Toole) Chamberlin.  He was united in marriage to Mardella Mae Cook on May 16, 1977 in Aitkin.  He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycle and Can-Am, playing bingo, having coffee with his buddies at McDonalds and especially spending time with his family. He was a loving dad and an all-around good guy.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

CLARA MAY (BRAFF) HARTUNG, 93, of Crosby, died on Nov. 19, 2021 at Heartwood Senior Living in Crosby.  She was born on May 30, 1928 in Cass Lake to Charles and Linda (Lofstrom) Braff.  She graduated from the Cass Lake High School and French’s Business College in Bemidji. After college she did secretarial and accounting work for the Cass County Welfare Office in Walker and the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Cass Lake and Bemidji.   On Jan. 9, 1960 she married Floyd Richard Hartung in Crosby.  They resided in Monticello before moving to Crosby in 1983.  She was a member of St.

Edmund Eugene Walczak, Jr., 63, of Aitkin, passed away at his home on Nov. 16, 2021.  He was born April 22, 1958 in Evanston, IL to Edmund and Dorene (Siebenbrodt) Walczak, Sr.   He graduated from Niles North High School and has never stopped working.  He made his living driving truck.  Ed will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his hard working nature and his compassionate heart.  He had a great passion for boating, fishing, and music.  He will be remembered, loved, and missed by all.   He was preceded in death by his father Edmund Eugene Walczak, Sr.

Katherine Emma “Kathie” Olander, 90, of Crosby, died on Nov. 19, 2021 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  She was born in Deerwood Township on April 11, 1931 to Stanley and Aimar (Ford) Splettstoeszer.   Katie was a retired Activity Director at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.  She was a member at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby and loved to quilt at church and with the Loon Crafters, was a former Girl Scout and Boy Scout Leader and a volunteer at the Soup Kitchen in Brainerd.

MICHAEL ELWOOD BUCHITE, 77, of Whiting, IA, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021 at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, IA. He was the son of Hugh and Lil (Chenevert) Buchite and was born Feb. 26, 1944 in Crosby.  He grew up in the Fifty Lakes  area and he attended high school in Pine River.  For most of his working years, he was a truck driver. He was united in marriage to Joyce Janssen and three daughters were born to this union.  They later divorced. Throughout the years, he enjoyed fishing, sightseeing, riding his motorcycle and tinkering in his shop.

Robert "Bob" Joseph Miller, 58, of Fifty Lakes, formerly of Bloomington, died on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021 after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born on Dec. 21, 1962, in Long Beach, CA where he was adopted by Johnny and Virginia Miller. The second of seven adopted children, He and his family grew up in St. Louis Park before moving to Rogers, AR where he graduated high school. The family moved to Apple Valley. He went on to work at Little Six Bingo Palace in Prior Lake where he would meet his wife, Patty Miller. They were married for 33 years.

Audrey Joyce Enos, 85, of Deerwood, died on Nov. 13, 2021 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  She was born in Rush City on July 15, 1936 to Truls and Helen (Lueth) Larsen. She was a retired LPN at Cedarbrook Manor in Deerwood and the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby with 25 years of service.  She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood and the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Auxiliary, Deerwood.  She was one of the Crosby-Ironton Rangers biggest fans. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Jack in 2004 and one daughter, April Myers.

Julia Frances Fredericksen, 97, Sauk Rapids, died Friday, Nov. 5, 2021 at the Good Shepherd Community, Sauk Rapids. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family funeral service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, St. Cloud. Frances was born Dec. 12, 1923 in St. John’s, Newfoundland, an English Colony, to Herbert and Emma (Snow) Pike. She married Harlan C. Fredericksen on October 23, 1945.  They lived in Tyler and Marshall prior to moving to St. Cloud in 1955. Frances was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.

On Friday, July 16, 2021, Agnes “Kris” Kristine Johnson, 94, passed away at Trinity Health Care in Farmington. She was born Feb. 13, 1927 in Crosby to Fred (Stenroos) and Inga (Lysen) Johnson. She graduated High School and moved to Minneapolis where she graduated from the U of M with a degree in Library Science. She went to work at the U where she rose to a level of Assistant Professor and head of the Architectural Library. She was a long-term resident of Roseville. Her love of the Arts, Ballet, Dance, Opera and Travel filled her life.
