Charles "Chuck" Thomas Hartung Obit

Charles (Chuck) Thomas Hartung, 79, passed away peacefully on Nov. 16, 2023, at the Mayo Clinic in Pheonix, AZ, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Crosby on March 3, 1944, to Willis and Helen (Wassen) Hartung. He was a 1962 graduate of Crosby Ironton High School. In June of 1962 he received a letter asking him to join the Army. Basic training at Fort Leonard Wood “was such a treat.” If you ever asked him how long he served he would respond, “5 years, 5 months and 28 days.” He was stationed in Anchorage, AK, for two years and then returned state side.

Geneva J. Mollenhauer Pending

GENEVA J. MOLLENHAUER, 96, of Crosby, died on Nov. 18, 2023 at Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.
A service is being planned for Dec. 16, 2023. Full obit will follow.

LANA POMMER-HELMKE, 82, of St. Louis Park, died Nov. 10, 2023, following a bout with pancreatic cancer.
She was born June 13, 1941 in South Dakota. She attended 12 years of school in Castlewood, SD and also attended the Nettleton School of Business and Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD.

SHAYNE DEON PANKRATZ, 52, of Brainerd, died on Nov. 4, 2023 at his home. He was born in Mountain Lake on Jan. 5, 1971 to LaVerne and Bryce (Gilbaugh) Pankratz. He was the owner and operator of Pankratz Trucking and Excavating in Crosby.
Preceding Shayne in death are his father, LaVerne Pankratz and brother-in-law, Michael Flannigan.

VERLA MARY BAKER, 82, died at her residence on Oct. 17, 2023 with family by her side.
She was born on Sept. 27, 1941, in New Richmond, WI. She is the oldest of four children. She most recently lived in Coon Rapids and previously resided in Ramsey, Brainerd and Deerwood.

DARLENE KAY WINEGARNER, 88, of Crosby, went to be with her Lord on Friday, Nov. 3, 2023. She was born to William and Pearl (Powell) Isensee in Cass Lake on Feb. 17, 1935. When Darlene was in grade school, her family moved to Crosby. Darlene married LeRoy Winegarner on Sept. 9, 1954, they had five children.
