Margaret June Cekalla Obit

On July 22, 2023,  Margaret June Cekalla joined her husband Donald Leroy Cekalla on her final journey home.
She leaves behind her two children Donald John Cekalla (Julie) and Lori Cekalla. She also has two grandchildren Brittany (Erik) and Nicholas (Greta) along with four great- grandchildren that were the light of her life.  
Margaret was proud of her involvement with volunteering in Crow Wing County area. She enjoyed giving of herself and taking care of others.

MARY JUDITH GARCIA, 71, of Crosby, died on Oct. 5, 2023 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.  She was born on March 15, 1952 in Crosby to Martin and Jean (Stockard) Kertzman.  She was a local cook working with the Emily Café, Camp Knutson and the Emily School.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Justiliano Garcia; one daughter, Gina Fletcher and one sister, Patricia Dobbs.

PHYLLIS DREWYER, 94 of Crosby, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023 at Heartwood Senior Living Community in Crosby.  She was born Feb. 11, 1929 in Norwood, PA to William C. and Marie E. (Haines) Morrison.  She grew up in Ridley Park, PA and graduated from Ridley Park High School in 1947.  She attended West Chester State Teachers College, graduating in 1951 and eventually earning a Masters Degree.  

Kennenth Melvin Wasserzieher Obit

KENNETH MELVIN WASSERZIEHER was born Nov. 17, 1932 to Edward and Hazel (Knieff) Wasserzieher in the Brainerd hospital. With his loving wife of 44 years, Sharon, by his side, he passed into the arms of our loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sept. 21, 2023.
Ken began his early years in Deerwood with his parents, who established a small resort, Sunset Cabins, on Bay Lake, next to Ruttger’s Resort.
Ken attended school in Deerwood with his brothers Harlo and Gilbert. In 1951 he graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School.

Vivian "Oney" Ione Gibeaut Obit

VIVIAN "ONEY" IONE GIBEAUT, 90, of Crosby, formerly of Deerwood, passed away peacefully on Sept. 24, 2023 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  She was born on May 28, 1933 in Deerwood Township to Christian and Aurora (Olson) Brager.  Vivian was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Crosby.

MARGIE HIRT,  cherished mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, peacefully departed this world on Sept. 29, 2023, at Golden Horizons in Aitkin. Surrounded by her loving family, she transitioned to her eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter.

Derek "Buddy" Lee Brown Obit

DEREK "BUDDY" LEE BROWN, 44, of Crosby, died on Sept. 23, 2023 at his home after a battle with cancer.  He was born in Crosby on June 30, 1979 to August and Juanita (Erickson) Brown.  
He loved people and the outdoors, always carving wood and doing art work. He loved nature and riding his electric scooter through the bike trails. He cared about everyone he met, always with a big smile. He will be sadly missed by many.
Preceding him in death is his father.

Benjamin John Ludke Obit

BENJAMIN JOHN LUDKE, 29, of Cuyuna, died on Sept. 16, 2023, at his home.  
He was born in St. Cloud on Dec. 22, 1993 to John and Tammy (Lehnhoff) Ludke.  He was a Home Health Aide working with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
He is survived by his father, John Ludke, Jr. of Cuyuna; and his brother, David Ludke of Ironton.
Preceding him in death is his mother.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 1 to 3: p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8 at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.  

 

Margo Joyce Wojciak Obit

MARGO JOYCE WOJCIAK, 80, of Crosby died Sept. 20, 2023.
She was born to Gordon and Mary (Dehning) Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John Wojciak.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law and her grandchildren.
A private family service has been held.
Burial was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
