Erwin "Buzz" Neared, Jr. Obit

ERWIN "BUZZ' NEPRUD, JR., 70, of Crosby, passed away at his home on April 21, 2025. He was born on Oct. 22, 1954 in Crookston to Erwin and Marcella Neprud Sr.   He married Barbara Aulie Sept. 2, 1978 in Crosby. He was active in numerous organizations: life member of the Minnesota Trappers Association (MTA), National Trappers Association (NTA), an inductee into MTA Hall of Fame. He was also 2014 Trapper of the Year and he received the Presidential Award in 2021. For many years he was active in Local Ducks Unlimited.

Grace R. Schuller Obit

GRACE R. SCHULLER, 90, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025 at her home in Outing. Grace was born in St. Paul on Dec. 31, 1934 to Leroy and Hattie (Springer) Mattson.  She grew up in many places around the country, as her father moved to various construction sites, eventually returning to Minneapolis to settle down. Grace attended Nokomis Junior High where she met her husband of 72 years, Jack, at a nearby ice rink on Minnehaha Creek.  Grace graduated for Roosevelt High School in 1952.

GAYLE ELIZABETH MOCABEE, 77, of Aitkin, passed away on April 21, 2025 at Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.

Frederick Adolph Fox, Jr. Obit

FREDERICK "FRED" ADOLPH FOX, JR., 85 of Aitkin, formerly of Crosby, passed away on Sept. 27, 2024, at Golden Horizons in Aitkin. He was born in Minneapolis on Dec. 10, 1938, to Frederick “Fritz” Sr. and Verone Fox and was their only child. He left school and worked various jobs, including building smokestacks with travel throughout the country, as an iron worker in Staples, and he drove a Schwan’s truck for many years. He was united in marriage to Mary Wright in 1950 and together they had four children. They lived in Des Moines, IA and later moved to Crosby, Minnesota.

DONNA RAE JONES  passed away Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025 after a battle with the debilitating disease, Alzheimer’s. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025 at St. Emily’s Catholic Church, Emily, MN. The family will greet friends one hour prior to Mass at the church on Monday. Following Mass, refreshments and a luncheon will be served at the church. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, IA at a later date. Donna was born on Oct. 12, 1939 in Cedar Rapids, IA, the daughter of Ralph and Gladys Randak.

CLEMENT JOSEPH RODEN, 69, of Crosby, passed away on Feb. 8, 2025 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He was born on May 6, 1955 in Crosby to Gerald and Eleanor (Stofferahn) Roden. He was united in marriage to Lisa Christensen on May 22, 2004 in Aitkin. He was a former employee of North Central Transfer of Crosby and a retired employee of Grand Casino Mille Lacs. He is survived by his wife Lisa; one brother, Tim Roden of Maple Grove; three sisters, Theresa Roden of Milwaukee, WI, Rita Roden of Maple Grove and Monica (Wayne) Richards of Rapid City, SD; a niece and a nephew.

MARIE PATRICIA (DEBLOCK) HEGGESTAD, 66, of Duluth, passed away peacefully with family by her side Thursday, April 17, 2025. Marie was born to James and Kathleen Deblock July 7, 1958 in Crosby. She attended St. Scholastica School of Nursing, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1982. Her passion was public health, especially children. She ended her Nursing career in 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic school in Phoenix where she was the beloved “Nurse Marie.” She met Mark and they were married soon after. They were blessed with one child, Nichole.
