How to make hand sanitizer

You can make hand sanitizer at home with these three ingredients:
—2/3 cup 99 percent rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) or ethanol. (Hydrogen peroxide may be substituted).
—1/3 cup aloe vera gel
—8 to 10 drops essential oil (such as lavender, vanilla, peppermint, grapefuit) optional
Directions: Mix the ingredients in a bowl and stir with a spoon. Use a funnel to pour liquid into an empty bottle.

American Pickers filmed segment of Crosby

Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz, and their team of American Pickers will air a show of picking at the Gene Foote family buildings in the Crosby-Ironton area on Monday, March 9 at 8 p.m. on the History Channel.
American Pickers visited the area this fall.
American Pickers is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique ‘picking’ on the  History Channel. The hit show follows Wolfe and Fritz as they hunt for America’s most valuable antiques.

 

HCC Crockpot Cook-off April 8

The Hallett Center of Crosby announces its annual Crockpot Cook-off on Wednesday, April 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Anyone may enter with their favorite soup. Soup entries are $25 and include twobowls for sampling. Prizes are awarded for favorite soup and booth.
The cost is $4 for adults and $2 for youth. All proceeds go toward supporting Hallett Center programming.

Music in the Park to begin June 11

The Music in the Park Concert Series will begin on Thursday, June 11. The Cuyuna Lakes Concert Series in Crosby Memorial Park on Serpent Lake is an established event held the second and fourth Thursday evenings in June, July and August. Many cherished memories for both the spectators and musicians have been made with beautiful Serpent Lake in the background.

Hallett Library at New Location

The Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library will be open limited hours for the month of March at the temporary location at 27 West Main Street in Crosby. The library will be open 2 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. In April the library will return to  normal hours. The library staff would love for people to stop and see the new location!
—Story Hour will start again Wednesday, March 18. It will still be Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m. Story Hour will  have the library to themselves for the first few!

Christopher james McClure Obit

CHRISTOPHER JAMES McCLURE, age 35, passed away of pneumonia and sepsis on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020, at North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis.
Cris was charismatic, known and loved for his quirky sense of humor and contagious grin.  He loved historical movies, documentaries, and current events and was always ready to share a bit of trivia.  After a long struggle with his health and addiction, Cris was committed to staying sober and spending more time with his family and friends.
Cris is preceded in death by his father, Paul McClure, of Princeton, MN.
