Govenor extends Stay-At-Home order

Governor Tim Walz extended the Stay Home Order until Monday, May 18. In an effort to get more Minnesotans back safely to work while the order remains in effect, the governor announced retail businesses and other non-critical businesses will resume operations with curbside pick-up.

First COVID-19 death in Crow Wing County

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has confirmed the first official death of a Crow Wing County resident due to COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. MDH informed the county of the confirmed death late Monday, April 27 and said that the resident is a male in his 70’s.

Crosby DMV services available through the mail

Motor vehicle, watercraft, ATV and snowmobile registrations are available at the  Crosby Department of Motor Vehicle Office located at 1 First Street SE in Crosby. Renewal notices may be mailed to the office for processing, a drop box is also available during business hours.  Be sure to include a check or money order for the total amount due and include your insurance information as indicated on your renewal notice.
Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope to ensure proper delivery. Also, please include your telephone number in case there are questions.

To offer more opportunities for communication between residents’ families and friends during this pandemic, Cuyuna Regional Medical Center’s Care Center is now offering alternative communication methods.
These include Skype, Facetime, Zoom Meetings, Facebook Messenger, House Party App and window visits.

Sheriff asks for help to identify suspect

Crow Wing County Sheriff Scott Goddard reports on Sunday, May 3 at approximately 12:24 p.m. his office received a report of an assault involving a firearm taking place in the area of the 22000 block of County Road 4 just north of Merrifield. Deputies and officers from the Nisswa, Crosslake, Brainerd, Breezy Point, Minnesota State Patrol, and Pequot Lakes Police Departments assisted with attempting to locate the suspect.

Crow Wing Power signs final agreement with North Star Manganese, Inc.

Crow Wing Power, through its subsidiary, Cooperative Mineral Resources LLC (CMR), recently approved final agreements with North Star Manganese Inc (NSM) that pave the way to allow NSM to work toward planning and advancement of a potential mining operation of the CMR manganese deposit located near Emily, MN. CMR is the for-profit subsidiary of Crow Wing Power that oversees the Emily manganese project on behalf of the cooperative.

Crow Wing sheriff's lobby and jail closed temprarily

Crow Wing County Sheriff Scott Goddard announces the Law Enforcement Center’s main office and jail lobby areas will be closed to the public through March 31.  Sheriff Goddard stated, “We will continue to serve our community with our focus on keeping our personnel safe and healthy so we can respond to calls for help in our community. Closing our front lobby and jail lobby will help limit the personal contact we have with the public.  We are looking for any and all ways we can limit our exposure while remaining ready to respond to help our residents.”
