IRENE (WOJCIK) SERIO, 100, died July 20, 2021 at home in Deerwood. She was born June 6, 1921 in Illinois to Agatha and Frank Wojcik. Preceding her in death are her husbands, parents and siblings. She is survived by nieces and nephews. A private service was held with burial in Deerwood.

WADE WILLIAM METSA, 56, of St. Louis Park, died at his home on June 23, 2021. He was born on Dec. 20, 1964 in Minneapolis to John and Lura Metsa. He graduated from Jefferson High, class of 1983, in Bloomington. He served in the Army as a part of the 82d Airborne Division. He was an avid photographer and loved to see his life behind a lens. He enjoyed traveling and cooking. Deer camp at the family land was a tradition in which he also loved to partake. He previously worked in construction, maintenance, and retail. Some of his employers include; Welsh, Target, and Mac’s Roll Off.

RICHARD 'RICK' WOLFE, 74, of Breezy Point, formerly of Shakopee and Crosby, died July 30, 2021 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital. He was born March 2, 1947 in Minneapolis to Ervin “Red” and Marlys (Nutter) Wolfe. He married Robyn Teich on Nov. 23, 1974 in Shakopee. Rick was an intelligent, humorous, and likeable guy. His love of music and mastery of the harmonica allowed him join with his brother, Loren, to form the Wolf Bros. Band and they played, full time, for several years. In 1976, on a card table, he turned his hobby of stamp collecting into Minnesota Stamp and Coin Co.

RUTH ANN EXSTED, 73 of Brainerd, died on Aug. 6, 2021 at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.  She was born in Helen Township on March 4, 1948 to Benjamin and Jenella (Adams) Rolf.  Ruth Ann married Robert Exsted on Oct. 14, 1967 in Glencoe.  She was a retired employee of the Crosby-Ironton Courier, and was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby.

Thomas James "T.J." Butorac Obit

THOMAS JAMES "T.J." BUTORAC,  of Crosby died peacefully at the age of 89 on Aug. 7, 2021 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  He was born the last of 11 children to Gust and Rose Butorac on Nov. 28, 1931 in Crosby.  After graduating in the  Crosby-Ironton High School class of 1949 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.  He married Elaine Anderson on Nov. 21, 1953 and together they had seven children.

TERRY JAMES HUSE, 69, of Aitkin, died on Aug. 1, 2021 at his home.  He was born on Jan. 7, 1952 to James and Arlene (Nelson) Huse. He was an avid bowler and was an Aitkin area youth bowling coach. Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife Nina; and one brother, Alan Huse. He is survived by one son, James Huse of Aitkin; two daughters.

KENNETH M. NOVAK, 92, died July 28, 2021 at his home. He was born March 27, 1929 in Crosby to John and Josephine Novak. He married Joan Larson on July 26, 1952. He played many sports, taking the high school basketball team to state tournaments in three consecutive years. Drafted into the U.S. Army in 1951, he served at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. while playing for the Army team. He then played professionally for the Minneapolis Lakers before being traded to the Baltimore Bullets. He became the youngest head coach of St.

JACQUELINE "JACKIE" I. HOLMVIG, 77, of Crosby, went to her heavenly home on Aug. 3, 2021 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  She was born on March 28, 1944 in Brainerd to John and Irene (Peterson) Heise. Jackie spent two years attending school in Grantsburg, WI and then came back to live with her grandmother, Hilda Peterson in Cuyuna.  She graduated from the Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1962. Jackie was a retired CNA with the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center and Hallett Cottages with 26 years of service.  She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby.

GLENDA LARONE HOGLUND, 70, of Barron died, Aug. 1, 2021, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Northland. She was born Jan. 10, 1951 in Crosby to Albert and Evelyn (Erickson) Hoglund. She worked at Barron County Developmental Services Inc. and later Ventures Unlimited in Cameron for a number of years. She enjoyed passing the time working on puzzles, reading, and watching game shows: Family Feud, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune were her favorite. She loved spending time with her dear family and friends. She is survived by her siblings, additional family and many dear friends.
