MICHAEL JOSEPH SCHWEITZER, 61 of Fairfield Township, died at his home on Aug. 18, 2021.  He was born on May 20, 1960 in St. Louis Park to Joseph and Bonnie (Johnson) Schweitzer.  He married Lisa Hoefner on Nov. 6, 1981 in Coeur d’Alene, ID.  He was a former employee of Fletcher Well Drilling in Emily; worked construction for Arrowhead Construction and the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.  He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 346; the Bible Baptist Church in Crosby; a former Emily First Responder and served two terms as the Fairfield Township Supervisor.

CLARA ANN LEWIS-HILDEN, 79, of Crosby, died on Aug. 1, 2021 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  She was born on Oct. 19, 1941 in Crosby.  She was the former owner and operator of the Crosby Bakery and was a former cook at T.J.’s on the Cove in Deerwood. Preceding Clara in death are her parents; her husband Ivan Hilden; one son, David Lewis and 12 siblings. Clara is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Vern and Teffany Lewis of Crosby; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Duane Pomerleau of Coon Rapids; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Shirley Ann Foote Obit

SHIRLEY ANN FOOTE, 85, of Crosby, died on Aug. 22, 2021 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  She was born on Feb. 26, 1936 in Crosby to Henning and Rachel Anderson.  She married Beryl Foote on May 16, 1953 in Crosby.  She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby.  She was an outstanding cook and baker for many local restaurants.  She loved preparing Sunday family dinners, camping, 4-wheeling and snowmobiling.   Preceding her in death are her parents; one son, Danny Foote and one brother, Dale Anderson.

Marjorie M. Roach Wheeler Obit

MARJORIE M. ROACH WHEELER, 83 years young, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by family on Aug. 16, 2021 with courage, dignity and grace at Essentia-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd.  Thank you to the doctors and nurses for their care at Essentia and Cuyuna Regional Medical Center.   She was born on Jan. 25, 1938 in Crosby to Louis and Vera (Gordon) Moritz.   Marge loved spending time with her family.  Nothing made her smile more than time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

GERALD RICHARD CARLSON left this world for Heaven on Aug. 1, 2021 at his home in Ojai, CA. He was born to Mabel and Enfred Carlson on Feb. 22, 1936 in the Land Of 10,000 Lakes in the small town of Crosby. We’re certain his love for fishing started at a young age! Eventually Jerry made his way to the Pacific Ocean, settling in sunny Santa Barbara, CA with his wife and three young boys. A few years later, they bought their forever home in Ojai where they created decades of memories with three generations of Carlsons.

Kerry Lee Schaufel Obit

KERRY LEE SCHAUFEL, 72, of Crosby, died July 25, 2021 at home. He was born Feb. 14, 1949 in Robbinsdale to Guy and Vera (Garre) Schaufel. He served two years in the U.S. Army and three years in the Army Reserve, He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gibb and Mark Schaufel. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Pam and Michael Jobst of Maple Grove, son and daughter-in-law Kelly and Rebecca Schaufel of Big Lake, one granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 20 at the Minnesota State Veteran Cemetery at 9 a.m.

BONNIE L. (ANDERSON) GEORGE, 89, of Ironton, died on Aug. 9, 2021 at her home.  She was born on April 6, 1932 in Waukenabo Township to Howard and Louise (Cook) Emmert.   Preceding Bonnie in death are her parents; first husband, George Anderson Sr.; second husband, Lloyd George; two sons, Howard and Bruce Anderson; two daughters, Audrey Roggenkamp and Barbara Anderson; one sister, Laura Emmert; two brothers, Howard and August Emmert; grandson, Kyle Anderson; great grandchildren, Anthony and Alexander Louks; son-in-law, Dwight Semler and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Anderson.

Donald Rudolph Carlson

DONALD RUDOLPH CARLSON died Aug. 11, 2021. He was born July 31, 1934 to Andrew and Anna Carlson near Coffee Lake, Bay Lake Township.  He graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School in 1952.  In 1953-1954 school year, he purchased the East Bay Lake bus, taking kids to school during the school year and in the summer, he brought kids back and forth to the Bay Lake Camp owned by the First Lutheran Church, St. Paul.  He sold the bus to Dayton Humphrey in 1959.   June 8, 1957, he married Mary Helen Scarr at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby.
