MARCIA ANN WINK, 80, of Brainerd, formerly of Deer River, died on Feb. 12, 2024 at Edgewood Vista in Brainerd. She was born on March 7, 1943 in Minneapolis to Glenn and Lorraine (Amundson) Wood.   Marcia is survived by one son, Rod (Janell) Wink and one daughter, Angie (Mark) Theis all of Brainerd; three grandchildren, Cody (Jennifer) Stange of Brainerd, Alex (Heather) Wink of Superior, WI, and  Adam (Jessica) Stange of Deer River; three great-grandchildren, Quinn Stange, Bently Stange, Phyllis Stange and one due in July.

HAZEL MAE (WILENIUS) FLETCHER, 86, a resident of Emily for 48 years,  passed away peacefully Tuesday,  Feb. 13, 2024, at her home, surrounded by family. Born May 9, 1937, at her home in Bear River, (St. Louis County), she owned and operated the Sportsman's Bar in Bear River and was the community Constable. When moving to Emily,  she and husband Robert owned and operated the Tastee Twist for years. She also worked at Madden’s Resort for 15 years. She tremendously enjoyed the company of her children,  grandchildren,  and great-grandchildren.

JOAN CAROL GUTZMAN, 87, of Baxter, MN passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 12, 2024. Joan was a devoted wife and talented painter whose brush strokes brought beauty and depth to the canvas of life. She was born at Miner’s Hospital in Crosby on Aug. 15, 1936 and attended Crosby-Ironton High School. Following graduation in 1954, she attended the St. Cloud Teachers College and then ventured west to work at the Huntington Park First Savings and Loan Association in Huntington Park, CA.

FAYE ARLENE (TORGERSON) LINDBLOM, 80, of Stewart, died at the Cokato Manor on Feb. 8, 2024. A Celebration of Lindblom’s life is being planned for Saturday, March 9, 2024.   Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.

JIMMY ELMER LeBLANC, 57, of Crosby, died at his home on Feb. 9, 2024 due to heart complications. He was born in Crosby on March 14, 1966 to James and Florence (Rono) LeBlanc.  Jimmy was the best husband and friend to his wife of 23 years.  His daughter Morgan was his pride and joy and she had him wrapped around her finger.  He would do anything for his family and friends.   Jimmy moved with his family to Black River Falls, WI at the age of three when the mines closed in Crosby.  He graduated from the Black River Falls High School, class of 1984.  He then entered the U.S.

GORDON HERBERT JACOBSON, 83, of Deerwood, died on Feb. 10, 2024 surrounded by family and friends at his home.  He was born in Granite Falls Township  on June 16, 1940 to Herbert and Ruth (Peterson) Jacobson.   Gordon graduated from the Montevideo High School, class of 1958. He attended NDSU in Fargo, ND graduating in 1963 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He worked his way through college including radio announcing on the college radio station and Fargo radio stations. After college he married Audrey Walker on Aug.

MARCUS JAMES STOWE of Baxter-Brainerd  passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 16th, 2024. Marcus was born in St. Paul and moved with his family to the Lakes area in 2009.  He went to Remer High School. He loved being a father and his son Axel was his ultimate joy.  He had such a good heart, a crazy fun laugh and a quick wit that would make anyone smile. His silent strength and strong kindness assured those close to him that he would do anything, absolutely anything, for those he loved. The world grew a bit dim when Marcus left us. Marcus will be sorely missed by many and, in our hearts, forever.

Thomas "Tom" Mrkonich Obit

THOMAS "TOM" MRKONICH, 94, of White Bear Lake died Jan. 18 at Waverly Gardens in North  Oaks. He was born July 25, 1929 in Crosby to John and Katherine Mrkonich. He married Dorothy Evanson on Aug. 15, 1959. He was proud of his service to his country in the U.S. Army in Korea. He graduated from St. Cloud State Teacher’s College in 1959 and received a Master’s in Education in Greeley, CO. He taught 8th grade Earth Science in St. Louis Park and retired in 1989 after 30 years in the profession. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy and sisters Ruth Stukel and Jean Perpich.
