John "Hondo" Leon Bohall Obit

JOHN LEON 'HONDO' BOHALL, of Backus, died in his sleep at his home on May 18, 2020. He was born Dec. 29, 1961 to Garold Bohall and Lorretta Hardy (Buchite).
He grew up in the Crosslake area. He was raised on a farm and loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. One of his favorite pastimes was camping with his family. He also enjoyed playing cribbage and 500. He was an excellent meat cutter and carpenter. He had a unique sense of humor and way of making people laugh. He was also known for his love of wiener dogs.

Muriel Adele Hammett Miller Obit

MURIEL ADELE HAMMETT MILLER, 94, passed away in Sequim, WA on May 29, 2020, just weeks before her 95th birthday. She was born in Rush Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada on June 23, 1925, the ninth of 11 siblings who traveled to school by horse and buggy or sleigh, depending on the season. Muriel emigrated to the United States after World War II, staying first with relatives in North Dakota and later with her grandparents, Robert and Alice Maghan, who homesteaded on Crooked Lake. She married Albert A. Miller, Jr. in Bessemer, MI in 1947.

BETTE LOU JOHNSON OBIT

BETTE LOU JOHNSON, 73 of Emily, died on June 2, 2020 at her home. She was born on May 6, 1947 in Hibbing to Leo and Dorothy (Richards) Johnson.  
She is survived by two sons, Randall (Kris Snow) Funk of St. Louis Park and Steve Funk of Minneapolis; two sisters, Sandra Stoltzman of Brainerd and Bonnie (Brian) Walker of Pengilly; and one grandchild.
Preceding Bette in death are her parents and one brother, Ken Johnson.
No services are being held.  Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.

 

Joyce Rademacher Obit

JOYCE RADEMACHER, 86, died May 8, 2020 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. She was an avid bowler in Crosby and a friend to all.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger; parents, Alice and Walter Malloy and two sisters, Darlene Gates and JoAnn Gangestad.
She is survived by her three daughters and son-in-law: Lynne Paulson, Outing; Cheryl and Mark Hecker, Outing and Allyson Fenning, Park Rapids; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren;  14 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Malloy and Tom Malloy and one sister, Mary Maleski.

NANCY YVONNE NELSON, 79, of Crosby, died on June 2, 2020 at Golden Horizon’s Assisted Living in Aitkin.  She was born on Nov. 13, 1940 in Luck, WI to Frank and Pearl (Amborn) Nelson.  Nancy was a former Crosby-Ironton School Bus Driver, Crosby-Ironton School Food Service employee and former property manager of the Ironton Terrace.

JOEL MARSH OBIT

JOEL L. MARSH, 85, of Deerwood, formerly of Coon Rapids, died on April 21, 2020 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.  
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby.  Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with a Service of Remembrance at 10:30 a.m.  
Burial will be at the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Pine River.  
Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.

 

James "Jim" Haw Obit

JAMES "JIM" DONALD HAW, 68 of Ironton, died on May 26, 2020 at his home.  He was born on July 1, 1951 in Minneapolis to Robert and Doris (Larson) Haw. He was a U.S. Army veteran.  Jim married Jodi Borene on May 4, 2001 in Sisseton, SD. He was the former owner and operator of the Bridge Tavern north of Crosby.

Charles "Charlie" Christianson Obit

CHARLES "CHARLIE" CHRISTIANSON, 75, of Andover died June 1, 2020.
He was born to Charles and Agnes Christianson on March 28, 1945. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
He is preceeded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenny.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Madelynne and two daughters and son-in-law, Jenny and Richard Wills and Deb Christianson; two grandsons, a sister and brother-in-law, Margie and Al Johnson and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

 

Beverly Ann Paulson Boyum Obit

BEVERLY ANN PAULSON BOYUM, 86, of Rushford, died Monday, May 25, 2020 at Gundersen Health System.
Beverly Ann Hatlevig was born Aug. 14, 1933 at home near Peterson to Marvin J. and Mabel T. (Halvorson) Hatlevig. She grew up in Pine Creek near Peterson.
She attended the North Prairie Lutheran Church and it was there she was baptized, confirmed, and married. She attended school at the one room school house in Arendahl near Peterson.

NATALIE GERBICH SPALJ, 91, of Deerwood, died on May 3, 2020 in New Brighton.  Natalie was born on Oct. 22, 1928 in Crosby.  She was the only daughter of Dorothy and Daniel Gerbich.
