Robert A. "Swede" Carlson Obit

ROBERT A. "SWEDE" CARLSON, age 76 of Deerwood died on Jan. 20, 2020 at his home.
He was born to Ragnor and Mary (Seech) Carlson.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Swede was a bartender at the Spalding many years and a local musician.
Preceding Swede in death are his parents.
His survived by many cousins.  
No services are being held. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.

Carol E. Calkins Obit

CAROL E. CALKINS, 87, of Bay Lake Township. died on Jan. 16, 2020 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  She was born on Jan. 20, 1932 in Wibaux, MT to John and Stella (Pierce) Woods.  Carol married Gene Calkins on Oct. 13, 1951 in Wibaux, MT.  She attended the Cascade United Methodist Church in Deerwood.  Carol was a former longtime leader for the Bay Lake 4-H Club.  Formerly she was employed as aid with Woodland Acres Nursing Home in Brainerd and Cedarbrook Manor in Deerwood and a baker for the Deerwood Supermarket.

LeRoy Jerome Sanvig Obit

LEROY JEROME SANVIG, 81, died on Jan. 14, 2020 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  He was born on June 15, 1938 in Starbuck to Ole and Sina (Dishong) Sanvig.  He married Yvonne Bartel on April 5, 1958 in Crosby.  He was a retired Potlatch employee with 28 years of service.
Preceding him in death are his parents and eighteen siblings.

Dorothy H. Vukelich Obit

DOROTHY H. VUKELICH, 75, of Crosby, died on Jan. 16, 2020 at her home.  She was born on June 7, 1944 in Crosby to George and Mary (Radinovich) Vukelich.  
Proceeding her in death are her parents; three sisters, Barbara Casper, Katie Grossell and Clara Vukelich; and one brother, Edward Vukelich.

Mary Peterson Obit

MARY PETERSON, 82, Aitkin, formerly of Crosby, died on Dec. 11 at Northland Lakes Assisted Living in Baxter. She was born March 16, 1937.
Her wishes were to not have any services. The family will have a private celebration of life.

JOYCE B. TREFETHEN, 92, of Crosby, died at Heartwood Senior Living Community in Crosby on Jan. 1, 2020.  She was born on Jan. 1, 1928 in Minneapolis to Leonard and Alma (Rasmussen) Anderson.  She married Elmer Trefethen on Sept. 28, 1946 in St. Paul.  She was a retired LPN at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center and volunteered at the care center as an accompanist for the Sing-a-longs.  She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby and St. Joseph’s CCW. She served as a past secretary for the Bee-Nay-She Bird Club.

Scott Kevin Wikstrom Obit

SCOTT KEVIN WIKSTROM, 54, of Crookston, died at his residence on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019.  
He was born at St. Paul,  on April 18, 1965 to Mable Yost. He was raised by Allan and Mable (Yost) Wikstrom, Sr. at Emily and received his education in nearby Crosby,  schools.

BEVERLY J. YOUNG, 87, of Brainerd, formerly of Young Lake in Merrifield, died on Jan. 1 at the Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.  She was born on Jan. 11, 1932 in Aitkin to Clive and Ina (Marsh) Travis.  She married James Young on March 1, 1953 in Crosby.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Jim; one daughter, Linda Young; one sister, Helen and one brother, Milton.

FRANK D. BICKFORD, 65, of Spring Lake Park, died at his home on Dec. 29, 2019.  He was born in Crosby on Nov. 21, 1954 to Willard and Rose Marie (Formanek) Bickford.  He was a retired employee of Carter Day in Fridley.  He enjoyed riding his ATV, fishing and spending time at the lake.
